In February 2014, Montagu completed the acquisition of DORC, from a consortium of shareholders including Rabo Capital, Van Lanschot Participaties and Oftavinci B.V.

Established in 1983, DORC is a leading provider of innovative instruments and equipment for ophthalmic surgery. The product range includes high precision disposable and re-usable instruments, surgical liquids and surgical machinery that is used for vitreoretinal and cataract procedures. Headquartered in Zuidland, the Netherlands, DORC serves a global customer base including surgical centres, hospitals and physicians across the US, Europe, the mid-East, Asia and South America. The company has more than 300 employees worldwide and generated over €80m of sales in 2013.

Montagu was attracted by DORC's reputation for high quality surgical products, machines and dyes. The Company has a loyal customer base of surgeons who use its products on a regular basis, providing a high degree of consistency to its revenue streams. DORC operates in an attractive market, driven by increasing demand for ophthalmic surgery and increasing surgical access in developing markets. DORC has consistently outgrown the market and is a clear leader in a number of its product areas. The Company is led by a motivated and experienced team and, with Montagu's support, they plan to pursue a range of growth opportunities. These will include investing in R&D, new product launches, further international expansion and the potential for acquisitive growth.
