St Hubert is the French leading manufacturer of healthy spreads
In August 2012, Montagu Private Equity acquired St-Hubert from Dairy Crest Plc. alongside its management team in a primary buy-out.
Founded over 100 years ago and headquartered near Paris, St-Hubert is one of the leaders on the spreads market. In the year ended March 2012, the company achieved sales of over €120m and produced over 35,000t of low-fat and healthy spreads. The company also derives a material part of its sales from Italy, where it owns the Valle brand. In France, St-Hubert employs over 200 persons and markets leading brands such as St-Hubert and Le Fleurier. The company has a clear focus on innovation, which resulted in the launch over the past 10 years of successful products such as St-Hubert Oméga 3, St-Hubert Bio and 5 Céréales.
St-Hubert combines a leading market position, uninterrupted organic growth fuelled by innovations, and an outstanding management team. The company's culture of innovation and the pipeline of new product developments provide additional growth opportunities going forward.
Under Montagu’s ownership, St Hubert strengthened its leadership in health spreads and successfully entered new plant-based categories such as soy-based yoghurts and desserts. The strong positions of St Hubert on the promising vegetable protein markets generated interest from a number of potential trade acquirers. A consortium led by Beijing Sanyuan Foods Co. and Fosun International Ltd, Ltd. acquired the company in January 2018.
